Hello Troop 282,
Our tentative plan for our February Campout is to go to Kitson Scout Camp Friday, February 19th – February 21. We are planning to go up to Willamette Pass for a day of Skiing or Snowboarding. Berg’s Ski shop has agreed to rent skis and boots or a snowboard and boots for $15.00. They are normally $20.00 but will give a $5 discount if you mention you are from Troop 282. Due to Covid-19 they are not renting out helmets. One can buy a helmet from Berg’s for around $60. Mr. Yozzo will be reaching out to Willamette Pass tomorrow to see about renting helmets there and getting a group rate for lift tickets. The guide to safe scouting requires that helmets are used in downhill skiing and snowboarding. Equipment from Bergs will be able to be rented as early as Wednesday the 17th. I’ve heard that the wait can be up to two hours to get your gear and its first come first serve.
There will be signups for this outing starting tomorrow. If your scout is interested in attending this outing, please let me know tomorrow night. There are a lot of logistical issues to work out for this outing and we need time to plan accordingly. I will be happy to address any concerns or questions you may have at tomorrow night’s meeting.
