Hello everyone, this is Derek Saxman.
I have the final details for my eagle project on Monday, November 12th (Veteran’s day observed, no school). My project is to renovate the Eugene Mission’s bike yard: Refurbishing and painting bike racks, assembling a large shelter (24’x20’x13′), installing new gravel and security cameras. The gravel will be delivered and spread by Wilidish first thing in the morning, so there will be minimal landscaping for us to do.
You can choose one of two teams to be apart of:
1. Using spray cans to prime and paint bike racks
2. Assembling the 1400 lb. shelter
- Start time 8 am
- Meet at the main entrance of the Eugene Mission (1542 W 1st Ave).
- Please try to be on time because there will be hot cocoa/coffee and donuts along with a safety briefing/orientation by the Mission staff before we begin.
If you need help with transportation to/from the project, please let me know and we can make arrangements. Lunch will be provided by the Mission at 11:30. We will be working in areas closed off from the Mission guests with Mission staff working along side us. The project will be completed by 4 pm when the bike yard re-opens. The more individuals we have using spray cans or assembling shelter pieces, the faster the work will go. There will be an optional tour of the Mission available at the end of the project for all who are interested. Weather is forecast to be sunny but cold in the morning warming to 60 in the afternoon so please layer up so you are plenty warm. I will provide work gloves and hand warmers.
If you are interested please let me know (or confirm if you signed up already). You can text me at 541-799-4453 or email me at derek.saxman. Please let me know if you have a work team you would like to be in. I will send out a final reminder on Sunday.
